1. Acceptance of Terms
By using Rot Dot, you agree to these Terms. We may modify Terms anytime; continued use constitutes acceptance.
2. Eligibility
You must be 13+ years old (16+ in EU/EEA) to use Rot Dot. If you are under 18, you must have parental permission.
3. Description of Service
Rot Dot is an app blocking tool that uses NFC tags to control app access on your iPhone. Features include:
- Create NFC-triggered "dots" to block apps
- Select specific apps to block for each dot
- Toggle app blocking by scanning NFC tags
- Configure multiple dots for different locations
Rot Dot uses Apple's FamilyControls framework (Screen Time API) to block apps. This is the same system used by parents for device management.
4. Requirements
- iPhone with NFC capability (iPhone 7 or later)
- iOS 17.0 or later
- NFC tags (purchased separately)
- Screen Time permission granted to Rot Dot
5. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER
THE SERVICE IS FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY.
Rot Dot is a productivity tool designed to help you manage your own screen time. It is NOT:
- A parental control solution
- A device management system for organizations
- A guaranteed method to block all app access
- A replacement for professional addiction treatment
App blocking can be disabled by the device owner at any time through iOS Settings. We make no guarantees about the effectiveness of app blocking for any particular purpose.
6. Subscription Terms
- Free tier: Create up to 2 dots
- Premium tier: Unlimited dots ($0.99/month)
- Auto-renewal unless cancelled 24+ hours before period ends
- Payments via Apple App Store
- Cancel anytime in Apple ID settings
- No refunds except as required by law/Apple
- Prices may change with notice
7. User Conduct
You agree to:
- Use for lawful purposes only
- Use only on devices you own or have permission to use
- Accept responsibility for your app blocking choices
You agree NOT to:
- Use on devices you don't own without permission
- Reverse engineer the Service
- Attempt unauthorized access
- Interfere with Service operation
- Sublicense or sell access rights
8. Intellectual Property
The Service is owned by HatchingPoint and protected by intellectual property laws. Your dot configurations and app selections remain yours and are stored locally on your device.
9. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES
SERVICE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES.
We disclaim:
- Implied warranties of merchantability/fitness
- Non-infringement warranties
- Warranties of uninterrupted/error-free service
- Warranties about app blocking effectiveness
- Warranties about NFC tag compatibility
Use at your own risk.
10. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
HATCHINGPOINT NOT LIABLE FOR:
- Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive damages
- Loss of productivity or data
- Damages from use/inability to use Service
- Damages from app blocking failures
- Damages from NFC tag issues
- Third-party service issues (Apple)
MAXIMUM LIABILITY: Greater of $100 or 12 months of fees paid.
11. Indemnification
You indemnify HatchingPoint against claims arising from your use of the Service, misuse of app blocking features, or violations of these terms.
12. DISPUTE RESOLUTION & ARBITRATION
Disputes resolved through binding individual arbitration (AAA rules), not court.
CLASS ACTION WAIVER: You waive the right to participate in class actions.
Opt-out: Email inquiry@hatchingpoint.com within 30 days of first use.
13. Governing Law
Delaware law governs. Non-arbitration actions shall be brought in Delaware courts.
14. Termination
We may terminate access anytime. Upon termination: access ceases, prior fees due, survival clauses remain in effect. Your local data remains on your device.
15. Third-Party Services
Apple (FamilyControls framework and payments) integrations are subject to their respective terms. We're not responsible for third-party service availability or performance.
16. Severability
Invalid provisions will be struck; the remainder remains enforceable.
17. Entire Agreement
These Terms + our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement.
