Introduction

Hatching Point provides Record+Transcribe to capture speech, save transcripts, and optionally generate AI summaries and titles. This policy distinguishes content needed for these features from optional product analytics and advertising measurement.

Recordings, transcripts, and local storage

Saved transcripts, summaries, titles, recording metadata, preferences, and profile details are stored locally in the app. Existing saved audio remains local. The live transcription flow temporarily captures audio to support speech recognition and removes that temporary capture after recognition finishes. Device backups may include local app data.

Microphone and Speech Recognition permission are required for live speech transcription. The app uses Apple’s Speech framework, preferring on-device recognition when available and using Apple’s recognition service when needed. Audio sent to Apple is handled under Apple’s terms and privacy policy. Recording and transcript content are not product analytics.

Exporting or sharing sends the selected text or file to the destination you choose. The app’s bundled onboarding sample is local demonstration content.

Optional AI summaries and titles

AI sharing is optional and can be changed in Settings → AI Data Usage. When enabled and you request an AI feature, transcript text is sent through Point’s AI service to OpenAI to create summaries or titles. A summary request can include the full selected transcript; a title request uses a shortened excerpt. Text can contain personal information you recorded or entered, so consider its contents before requesting AI processing.

Turning AI sharing off prevents future summary and title requests. You can continue recording, transcribing, editing, and sharing without AI. Turning it off does not remove data already processed by providers. Provider retention and processing follow their applicable service terms.

Optional usage analytics

Usage analytics are off until you choose to share. You can continue without sharing and change your choice in Privacy choices before purchase or in Settings. Declining does not reduce the app’s free allowance or change your subscription.

If enabled, Point uses PostHog to measure bounded app lifecycle, onboarding steps, feature availability and use, completed saved transcriptions, AI feature stages, completed share actions, paywall interactions, and purchase outcomes. Events use an anonymous installation identifier with app/version/platform context.

Analytics exclude recordings, transcript and summary text, prompts, generated titles, names, email addresses, location, filenames, recording timestamps and durations, transaction identifiers, and raw error messages. Session replay, screen recording, and automatic content capture are disabled.

Withdrawing usage consent stops future product analytics and clears pending local analytics. It does not retroactively delete already received events. This choice is separate from Apple’s advertising-tracking permission and from AI consent.

Advertising measurement

With Apple tracking authorization, Meta and TikTok may receive app activity, advertising/device identifiers, and purchase information to measure and improve advertising. Denying tracking does not require enabling product analytics and does not block the app’s features. You can change Apple tracking permission in iOS Settings. SDK diagnostics may include crash or other diagnostic information.

Purchases, support, and app discovery

Apple processes subscriptions and payments. The app reads product information and subscription status; Hatching Point does not receive your payment-card details. Introductory offers depend on Apple’s eligibility checks.

When you submit feedback, your message, any email you provide, app/device context, and the feature from which feedback was opened are sent to Point’s support service on Convex. Do not include transcript content you do not want to send.

The More Apps area requests public App Store information from Apple. Network providers receive the public IP and request metadata needed to handle their requests.

Your choices and data management

Manage usage analytics and AI sharing in the app, and microphone, speech recognition, notification, and advertising permissions in iOS Settings. Some functionality depends on the permission or subscription it requires.

The app provides local deletion and sharing/export controls. Uninstalling removes the local app container; exported copies and backups may remain. Local deletion does not delete information already sent to providers.

Children and updates

Record+Transcribe is not directed at children under 13. We update the date of this policy when its terms change.

Optional advertising measurement

Some Hatching Point apps include Meta's SDK in a disabled state. It initializes only when measurement is enabled for that app and you authorize tracking through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. When enabled, device identifiers, product interactions, and verified purchase event details such as value and currency may be shared with Meta for advertising measurement and analytics. Payment-card details are never shared. You can deny the request or revoke permission later in iOS Settings.
